Kassias Grandiel had clearly changed. After the fall of Kounat, he believed he was responsible for what happened to Baldinar, and he spent more than a thousand years trying to answer for that burden. The last ten or so years felt like a brief moment in comparison, yet raising Kyle and Cindy slowly reshaped him. Because of this, Kyle and Cindy never knew the Grandiel who once lived like an ascetic. They also never met the older Grandiel, the classic researcher whose great achievements came with almost no ability to communicate, a mage-scholar who lived only for his studies.

As he cared for the recovering Kyle and Cindy, Grandiel settled back into a peaceful routine. When he opened his grimoires again, it was not because something had changed inside him. He simply wanted something to occupy his time, a bit of light analysis rather than true research. But the presence beyond the veil did not miss this chance.

When you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes back. A faint and secretive energy rose from the grimoire known as the ‘Copy of the Klara Libri’, and it slowly began to stain Grandiel’s mind.
