Originally, the Creator gave life to demons in order to eradicate worlds that were out of balance. However, demons belonging to the Hardliners sought to destroy not just the worlds out of balance, but all of the material world. Centered around Heitaros, the Hardliners invaded Kounat of Aernas, but were defeated. After their failed invasion, the Hardliners lost their power in the Demon World.

When Veigas of the Terre family finally returned to the Demon World after wandering across different worlds, he was enraged to find the diminished state the Hardliners were in. As Veigas took over the Hardliners, he was able to expel the remaining followers of Heitaros and get on par with the Moderates.

One day, Veigas receives a revelation from the Creator to destroy Aernas. Since he believed Aernas was responsible for weakening the Hardliners, Veigas set off to destroy Aernas and deal with Dio, leader of the Moderates, in the process. After battling the Grand Chase in Aernas, Veigas learned that the revelation he received from the Creator was false. He now sets off to find the mastermind behind all this.
